Did it not seem odd last night that during the State of the Union address, President Obama never once mentioned America’s historic friendship with Israel, or pledged to work together to help Israel stave off the threat of the serious Iranian nuclear threat, or work with Israel to negotiate a peace deal with the Palestinians rather than allow the Palestinians to unilaterally declare a state (as we seem to be headed for now)?
What’s more, did it not seem odd that the Iranian nuclear threat merited only one sentence in the entire address? Or that the President did nothing to encourage the pro-democracy forces in Iran? Or that the President failed to condemn the executions and tortures going on inside Iran, or their efforts to destabilize other regimes in the epicenter? It would be unlikely at this point that the President would publicly acknowledge that a cultish, genocidal form of End Times theology is driving Iranian foreign policy, but to essentially turn a blind eye to the magnitude of the problem was a mistake that I fear will come back to haunt us.
