The Quest for Middle East Peace: New Dynamics

Michael G. MickeyBy Michael G. Mickey

Those of you who've been following the site's news page in recent weeks have noticed I've been digging up a lot of stories that lead me to believe we're on the verge of seeing yet another strong diplomatic push made by the West in the seemingly never-ending quest to bring peace to the Middle East.

EUBusiness.com is reporting the following, in part:
The stagnant Middle East peace process could see "new dynamics" in coming weeks, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said after meeting with Lebanese officials on Tuesday.

"We discussed... the possibility of putting new dynamics on the peace process as well as the possibility of having some important activities and important initiatives during the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations," which is to convene in New York in late September, Solana told reporters in Beirut.

Solana said in Israel on Monday that a summit between US, Israeli and Palestinian leaders to relaunch the dormant peace process could take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

"I spoke to the prime minister (Benjamin Netanyahu)... I got the clear sentiment that there is a possibility to get to an agreement before the beginning of the General Assembly that will allow us to resume negotiations," he said. [More...]
There are a number of words in the above that lead me to believe we're going to see a new approach to the Middle East peace process tabled at the end of this month, words like 'new dynamics', 'important activities' and 'new initiatives'.

While Javier Solana's words almost seem to indicate the United States, Israel and the Palestinians will be the only ones involved in this new undertaking, he said the discussion to take place later this month is going to allow "us", an inclusive choice of wording, to begin work anew on attempting to resolve the issue of Middle East peace. By "us", I presume Mr. Solana is referring to both the United States and the revived Roman empire of bible prophecy, the European Union.

Things may be about to get very interesting. The advent of the Antichrist is going to begin in earnest when he confirms (or makes strong) a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies in fulfillment of Daniel 9:27.

Every time we see the world clamoring for Middle East peace, it should remind us that God's prophetic plan remains in place and we are getting closer, inch by inch, event by event, to our redemption.

Keep looking up!
