Stan Goodenough says: Will Israel act alone to strike Iran? This question was raised in the Israeli media Thursday, and quickly made its way onto news sites and news television stations around the world.
According to an exclusive report in The Jerusalem Post, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is drawing up options for a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities that do not include coordination with the United States.
"It is always better to coordinate" with America the paper quoted a senior Defense Ministry official as saying. "But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination."
America has thus far remained steadfast in its refusal to approve or assist in an Israeli strike against the Iranian effort to produce nuclear weapons Israel fears will be used against the Jewish state.
God says: "To the arrogant I say, 'Boast no more,' and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horns. Do not lift your horns against heaven; Do not speak with outstretched neck.' No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man. But it is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; He pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs." (Psalm 75:4-8)
The Jerusalem Connection says: For sure, there will be no preemptive strike against Iran by the Bush Administration during it's waning days. President-elect Obama has committed himself to talks with Iran without pre-conditions. Meanwhile Iran continues unopposed to the development of a nuclear weapon that will most assured be launched against Israel. If Israel destroys Iran's nuclear capability, and they are definitely able to do this, they will come under an onslaught of condemning world opinion, probably to include the United States. Ultimately, Israel will have to decide between survival and world opinion -- which is no choice at all. The world is going to become increasingly anti-Semitic regardless. And so is the persecution of Christians. What to do? Take heart, Jesus said, "When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift your heads, because you redemption is drawing near," (Luke 21:28).
